Week 1: Toy Take Apart
Last week I started the Tinkering Fundamentals course being offered online by Exploratorium. I was inspired and encouraged to take apart unused toys.
What an enjoyable activity it turned out to be, particularly knowing that their mechanisms are going to be re-purposed through tinkering in the coming weeks.
I was happy with my finds. All three toys included input mechanisms - they can all be triggered by noise or vibrations - and they had various outputs, including light, movement or sound (such as tweets, cackles or even mimicry).
